Music Education Workshop
The process of becoming a sound engineer is oftentimes too expensive and reliant on receiving a scholarship. There is a lack of affordable resources, and young kids who aspire to be engineers are stripped of the opportunity simply because they come from a low-income family.
We (Soho Youth Club) teamed up with Break it Down Foundation to host a music education workshop for young, aspiring sound engineers.
Our select group of aspiring music leaders spent the day at Quad Studios in New York. There, they received instruction from Grammy-nominated engineers/producers Benjamin F. Thomas and Anthony Cruz, and music lawyer Jason Berger on sound engineering and the business of music.
Our 100% free workshop helped to kickstart engineering careers for these underrepresented minority youth. Stay tuned as we continue to plan more opportunities with Break It Down Foundation coming soon.
